Talend Life Cycle Platform

Talend Life Cycle Platform (LCp) extends Talend's enterprise solutions with modules facilitating large scale projects and deployments.

LCp comprises three essential capabilities to address enterprise-wide deployment requirements: Test, Audit, and Repository management.

Testing Platform

Talend Integration Suite LCp: Testing Platform - Details

The Testing Platform provides a framework to set up an overall quality assurance program on Jobs developed with Talend. It supports a large number of testing processes and helps to automate QA and regression testing, in order to validate Jobs against defined specifications.
Among other uses, the Testing Platform can, for example, qualify new versions of Jobs and ensure Jobs remain up and running during and after a system migration or in case of changes in the IT infrastructure.
Talend testing Platform can include a wide range of tests:

  • Unit test
  • Workload test / stress test
  • Functional tests
  • Performance tests

The Testing Platform relies on Talend's own integration technology to load parameters, build and execute multiple test processes in parallel or in sequence. In addition, it uses dedicated Java connectors to assert the expected achievements and to validate actual results against expectations.
In addition, the back office, based on Talend's Command Line technology, includes a whole set of scripts that helps to set up automation processes to schedule job launching, catch execution meta information such as status, feed the various database tables with returned metrics, etc.

The front end is a web-based application that provides exhaustive pass/fail reports based on the metrics returned by the test processes. The results display in the form of matrices and charts, and access to detailed error/warning logs is provided in order to drill down into any issue identified.

Repository Manager

Talend Integration Suite LCp: Repository Manager

The Repository Manager is a web-based cross-platform multi-repository administration environment that helps coordinate multiple project repositories and automate transfer of processes from one repository to another.
Typical use cases include synchronizing development repositories, exchanging & sharing a common logic or development standards, promoting processes from development status to production status, etc.
To achieve these goals, the Repository Manager provides various modules to help administrate repositories, manage roles and permissions, access the centralized resources and manage the migration tasks between repositories.
The Repository Manager also allows repository managers to administrate different items across repositories and different versions of repositories.
In addition, the Repository Manager ensures process automation through a system of rules and provides a dashboard to monitor and record the migration execution process information.
A whole set of fine-tuned features are offered to set up a rigorous management system, enabling the collaborative work between administrators and users. These features include:

  • Configuration/definition of Repositories: Purpose, Type (Source Only, Target Only or Source & Target)...
  • Definition of import/export rules (Source, Target, Item Filters...)
  • Definition of rule triggering conditions (scheduled or on demand)
  • Monitoring of execution through a Dashboard.

Audit Platform

Talend's auditing approach transforms data integration project information into valuable business information. The Audit Platform evaluates different aspects of the integration processes developed in Talend Integration Suite against development standards and best practices and provides solid quantitative and qualitative metrics for process-oriented decision support.
A project audit is the process of collecting and evaluating information about Job operations designed in Talend studio. The evaluation of information determines if the technical processes and data flows are operating effectively and efficiently to achieve the project goals or objectives.
Audit results are presented in printable reports generated to provide extensive data regarding different areas in the audited project.

Talend Integration Suite LCp: Audit Platform

The Audit Platform analyses help getting a clear picture of the audited projects, for developers who want to validate their work for example.
Administrators or business users can also use this wealth of information to analyze and monitor the degree of compliance of data integration processes with their own standards in order to improve data integration efficiency or to add a validation stage before promoting processes to production for example.
The Audit Platform leads to quick adoption of best practices and development standards, and help organizations to implement data integration subsequent projects effectively.
The Audit Platform analyzes in depth different elements in data integration , including:

  • Degree of Job complexity and list of components used in Jobs
  • Job error management
  • Documentation and Job versioning
  • Usage of metadata items in job designs
  • Layout-related issues and Job graphical designs
  • Overall Job analysis
